Dear Christian Friend,
August was an exciting month. Our Director of Publications, Jimmie Hill, and the President of the International College of the Bible, Ronald D. Gilbert, spent most of it together on a campaign to Zambia. Their primary work was teaching daily in the Zambia School of Biblical Studies in Livingstone, but they also used their weekends to hold Gospel meetings in both Misika and Siamafumba. These had a combined attendance of close to 3,000 resulting in 51 baptisms and 276 restorations. To God be the glory!
Humdrum numbers on a statistical sheet hardly seem exciting, but receiving Jimmie’s report put our baptisms over the 16,000 mark. This year alone we have been told that 1,858 souls have put on Christ and 43 new congregations of the Lord’s church have been established as a result of brethren spreading the Gospel with our materials. Now THAT is very exciting!
Exciting, too, is having a YouTube celebrity in the office. Brethren from Malaysia have started posting lessons from John Grubb’s DVDs on this online video site. So far, they have 9 sermons broken into segments to meet the 10-minute maximum time limit rule. If you want to take a look just go to www.youtube.com and do a search. But don’t worry if you can’t understand John - he’s preaching in Chinese.
We also took a step up in technology in August. We’ve had a few requests from contributors to send their donation receipts via email, if possible. Now we can. If you would like electronic receipts tell us your email address and that you would like to switch. It saves us paper and postage and may be more convenient for you.
There was one event in August, though, that was definitely not exciting. Ellen Mills, one of our secretaries, was diagnosed with cancer. The good news is the initial pathology indicates it has not spread beyond its origin. Ellen is scheduled for surgery on September 18th, so please keep her in your prayers.
May the Lord bless each of you with a splendid September filled with many exciting opportunities to spread His Gospel.
